Oh to be a fly on the wall during the scene that took place in Genesis 45. Joseph finally makes himself known to the brothers who sold him into slavery some twenty years before. It is one of the most dramatic moments from the Bible, and one that always brings me to tears.
Who can write a story like our God? Only He can take our past injustices, sins, failures and mistakes, and weave them into a beautiful tale of redemption with Jesus behind each stroke of the pen. Only God could have foreseen the moment we read about in Genesis 45 back in Genesis 37. God was with Joseph in the pit, in the prison, and in the palace. And God is with you too – right where you’re at. Don’t lose heart! No matter what has happened in your life – or is happening – He can bring healing, justice and restoration to your life. God longs to see scenes like the one in Genesis 45 unfold in our lives too.

Joseph could stand it no longer… he broke down and wept. He wept so loudly the Egyptians could hear him, and word of it quickly carried to Pharaoh’s palace.
“I am Joseph!” he said to his brothers. “Is my father still alive?” But his brothers were speechless! They were stunned to realize that Joseph was standing there in front of them. “Please, come closer,” he said to them. So they came closer. And he said again, “I am Joseph, your brother, whom you sold into slavery in Egypt. But don’t be upset, and don’t be angry with yourselves for selling me to this place. It was God who sent me here ahead of you… to keep you and your families alive and to preserve many survivors. So it was God who sent me here, not you! And he is the one who made me an adviser to Pharaoh—the manager of his entire palace and the governor of all Egypt.
